Pieces drift down one at a time. Slide them left and right, rotate to fit, and pack each row as tightly as you can — complete a full row and it clears for points. Clear several at once for a bigger bonus. On a keyboard use the arrows to move, up to rotate, and space to drop; on a touchscreen use the pad. It speeds up as you clear lines, and it ends when the stack reaches the top. Your best score is saved on this device.

How to play Blocks
Quick start
- Press Start. A piece appears at the top of the well and begins to fall.
- Slide it left and right, and rotate it, before it lands.
- Fill a whole row across all ten columns to clear it and score.
- Everything above a cleared row drops down by one.
- The game ends when a new piece has no room to appear at the top.
How it works
Controls
- Mouse / trackpad
- Use the on-screen pad beneath the well: left, right, rotate, soft drop, and hard drop.
- Touch
- The same on-screen pad. Every button is a real button, so it repeats cleanly if you tap quickly.
- Keyboard
- Tab to the well, then: ← and → to move, ↑ to rotate, ↓ to drop one row, and Space to drop the piece all the way down. W, A, S and D work as well.
Tips
- Rotation tries to shove the piece free. If a spin would clip a wall or a stack, the game shifts the piece one then two columns each way before giving up, so rotating in a tight gap often works anyway.
- Four rows at once scores 800 before the level multiplier, against 400 for clearing one row four separate times. Digging a one-column well and waiting for the long piece is worth real points.
- The level goes up every ten lines and the fall speed drops by 45 milliseconds each level, bottoming out at 90 milliseconds from level 13. After 120 lines it never gets faster.
- There is no next-piece preview and no hold slot. Every decision is made with the piece you can see, so keep the stack flat rather than planning around a piece you are hoping for.
Frequently asked questions
How is the score worked out?
Clearing one row scores 100, two scores 300, three scores 500 and four at once scores 800. Whichever you clear is then multiplied by your current level.
How do levels work?
Your level is one plus your total cleared lines divided by ten, rounded down. So level 2 arrives at 10 lines, level 3 at 20, and so on.
Does it keep getting faster forever?
No. Each level takes 45 milliseconds off the fall interval, starting from 620, but it never drops below 90 milliseconds. You reach that floor at level 13, which is 120 cleared lines.
What happens if I rotate against a wall?
The game tries to nudge the piece clear. It tests the rotation in place, then one column left, one right, two left and two right, and only refuses the rotation if none of those fit.
Is there a hard drop?
Yes. Press Space, or the drop button on the pad, and the piece falls to its landing square and locks immediately.
Can I see the next piece, or hold one?
No. There is no preview and no hold slot, so every choice is made with the piece currently on the board.
When exactly does the game end?
When a newly spawned piece overlaps a block that is already settled — in other words, the stack has reached the top of the well and there is no room for the next piece.
Is my best score saved?
Yes, in this browser's local storage on this device. It is never transmitted, and clearing your browser data removes it permanently.
